Kwa-Thema fought tooth and nail not to be relegated
Mpumi Mashiloane is the first woman to play in the Kwa-Thema premier team.
The Kwa-Thema Cricket Club premier team has survived relegation. The club was on the verge of losing its hub status, acquired by having a premier team.
Maxwell Dikhubo, a batter and the vice-captain on the day of the game said: “We had to win this game. It was do or die for us. We had to do all in our power to keep our status and avoid relegation.”
Being relegated would have seen the team play in the promotion division.
Dikhubo said, as a team, they are unsure what has happened because they were playing games without a coach.

However, that didn’t prevent them from winning their last game. Mpumi Mashiloane debuted in the game as the first female in the club to play in a premier match.
Thabiso Msipha said, “We would like to see Mashiloane play in the U19 team of the Proteas women. That’s why we included her in the premier side to train and prepare her for when that time comes.”
According to Dikhubo, though Mashiloane was nervous, she played a good game. Kwa-Thema played Thembisa and won by 30 runs.
Kwa-Thema was 186 all out. Thembisa replied with 156 all out.
