Former learner gives back to Tlakula Secondary School
Learners showcased their talents
Kwa-Thema – The Black Nation brand had a giving-back event at Tlakula Secondary School in Kwa-Thema on Friday.
Different stakeholders, including the Thabang Xaba Foundation, SANCA and the ward councillor were invited to address the learners.
Different learner groups performed hip-hop dances, pantsula, poetry and drama. During the welcome speech, Ward 78 Clr Sizwe Nhleko urged the learners to be respectful to both their peers and teachers.
SANCA: Ke Moja representative Matshidiso Tshabalala said, “Learners should stay away from drugs and alcohol. Those battling with these substances can visit our offices or call us for help.
“Our services are free and we will do all in our power to help you fight the substances.”
Social Development Ekurhuleni East social worker Dan Leshike said Tlakula is one of the schools they have adopted in Kwa-Thema.
“When we were busy with preparations, I arrived at the school only to find several students in the office as they were suspended for substances and that is worrying,” said Leshike.
He said learners who need help regarding social issues are welcome to visit their offices at the corner of Job Maseko and Thema Road on Tuesdays.
Black Nation founder Siphesihle Nkosi said, “Under my brand, I wanted to encourage learners to stay away from bad things and be inspired to do well.

“Black people have ideas but they hardly put them into practice.”
Nkosi is a former learner at Tlakula and donated 50 school bags to some of the school’s learners.
“I know how it is going to school without a bag and don’t wish that for anyone else,” Nkosi concluded.
The school bags are Black Nation products.
Ingrid Zanele Thamane, teacher, SBST coordinator and HOD of life orientation, creative arts, consumer studies and religious studies said, “Our learners who completed school in 2016 came to say ‘thank you’ to the school. They brought good programmes to give our learners information on different issues and we are grateful.”
