Lindokuhle Twala and Timothy Gabriels came fourth in Kimberley

Twala will also play in Cape Town before the Inter-Provincial Tournament.

Duduza – Lindokuhle Twala from Eyethu Badminton partnered with Timothy Gabriels in the U19 National Open and achieved fourth position in the mixed doubles.

The open was hosted by the Northern Cape Badminton Association in Kimberley, last Friday.

Despite playing together for the first time, Twala and Gabriels had a good partnership, playing amongst other top athletes from across the country.

The two had great communication throughout the competition in all the games they played in the mixed doubles.

The pair had a ‘never give up attitude’.

Eyethu coach Bongani Simelane said, “I enjoyed coaching them as they showed me they have potential and something more can come up along their way if they trust in themselves.”

Twala is preparing for the U19 Inter-Provincial Tournament that will take place in Durban from June 24-30.

Her last game in preparation for the Inter-Provincial Tournament will be in Cape Town on May 5.

“Twala is embracing the process that I’m putting her through every day in training. She is showing courage and the fire in her shows that we will see more achievement from her,” said Simelane.

Eyethu Badminton is open to youngsters who want to join them from ages five to 12.

Training takes place on weekdays at the Duduza Multipurpose Centre from 15:30 to 17:00.

Those who would like to join can also call Simelane on 084 646 6737.
