Tsakani – The Tsakane Build It Masters Social League kicked off on Sunday with all 12 teams battling it out at the Malandela Ground.

The old-timers are still showing that they have got what it takes to play football.

• Duduza XI 1-3 17 Masters

• All Nation 2-0 Brothers FC

• PCF 1-2 Bazingeli Masters

• Skomboyz Mkhulus Club 3-3 Amabhubesi

• Yebo Yes 1-1 Wizard
17 Masters are currently topping the log with Brothers FC on the bottom.

The MOTM (man of the match) winners in all the games were:
• Daniel ‘Chisto’ Mabena, Geluksdal Goalkeeper

• Tshepo ‘Chilly’ Shongwe, 17 Masters Midfielder

• Velly ‘Veja’ Khanye, Yebo Yes Defender

• David ‘Ngaka’ Mfene, Brothers Midfielder

• Sphiwe ‘Dibaba’ Bangwe, Skomboyz Striker

• Alex ‘Sellos’ Bottoman, PCF Midfielder
All MOTM winners received a voucher.

Votile Jack, the league founder said, “These were top players on the day, irrespective of their positions on the field. Their compensation on the day was outstanding, hence they were picked as MOTM.”

Jack said the ideology behind the man of the match award is to encourage the masters to bring their creativity, artistry and moments of brilliance and above all, to focus on improving their game weekly.

“The midfielders get to control the tempo of the game, initiate things from the middle, help in defence and attack and also score goals in the process. We check their overall performance and their contribution to the game while competing with the other players,” Jack explained.

The league will continue on Sunday at the Malandela Ground when all 12 teams will battle it out again from 09:00 to 15:00.
