TP FC holds awards to celebrate team players
A local football club celebrated its top players on Saturday.
Kwa- Thema – Tshepiso Paul Football Club, known as TP Football Club hosted its annual award ceremony for the 2022 season on Saturday at the African Reformed Church in Southern Africa in Nyanyadu, Kwa-Thema.
The club celebrated the excellence, hard work, dedication and commitment of individual players according to their divisions from U11 to U17.
There were five categories in each division – Goalkeeper of the Season, Defender of the Season, Midfielder of the Season, Top Goal Scorer of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season (voted for by the players).
The winners in each division were:
U-11 winners
Goalkeeper of the Season: Owami Manje;
Defender of the Season: Neo Ramareu;
Midfielder of the Season: Sentlenyane Kubeka;
Top Goal Scorer: Amogelang Masina;
Players’ Player: Ntandoyenkosi Manana.
U13 winners:
Goalkeeper of the Season: Ngcebo Maranjane;
Defender of the Season: Siyabonga Kgwadi;
Midfielder of the Season: Ntebogeng ‘Chamus’ Nzwane;
Top Goal Scorer: Thuto Maimela;
Players’ Player: Oratile Sekhothe.
U15 winners
Goalkeeper of the Season: Njabulo Malohle;
Defender of the Season: Hlompho Matlala;
Midfielder of the Season: Siyabonga Khumalo;
Top Goal Scorer: Banele Hlongwane;
Players’ Player: Wandile Nkosi,
U17 winners:
Goalkeeper of the Season: Simphiwe Njobe;
Defender of the Season: Kgotso Mohlala;
Midfielder of the Season: Kamogelo Mokwono;
Top Goal Scorer: Tshemologo Mpatlanyane;
Players’ Player: Simphiwe Njobe.
The TP FC brand ambassador, Thulane Daile, said, “We are proud to honour our players because it wasn’t an easy season. However, through them, our 2022 season was better than prior seasons. Our U15 and U17 did extremely well last season.”
The club also had posthumous awards for those who contributed to the team.
“We would love to celebrate the special award recipients and honour them for their contributions to the team and the foundations they are laying. These awards are special because we remember those who passed on and gave us the legacy to continue moving forward, so the awards are named after them,” said Daile.
The special awards were:
• E.M.D Mpatlanyane Award – for the U15 captain who led the team to first position in their division, Simphiwe Mazibuko;
• Tshepiso Paul Award – for the U17 captain who led his team to glory and the winners of the 2022 Springs Local Football League, Simphiwe Njobe;
• Mr David Mabena Award – awarded to the coach of the season, Kagiso Magosi (KG);
• Wonga Makhubo Award – awarded to the academic player who did well in his studies, Wandile Ndala;
• Rev V Mthimunye Award – awarded to the most active community member, Tebogo Mdluli.
The speakers at the event were the founder of the Thabang Xaba Foundation, Thabang Xaba; the president of the Kwa-Thema Youth Revival, Kgotso Mosehla; Miss Kwa-Thema Karabo Matlala; the Nomndayi Community brand ambassador, player scout and Ikusasa Elihle Sports Talent manager, Tshepo Mathebula; the local LFA administrator, Prince Rammego; the LFA second deputy chairperson (women), Charity Zulu; and a former Banyana Banyana player, Busisiwe Sibanyoni.
Daile said he wants to encourage parents and community members to support children in everything they do and added that they are grateful to those who attended the event and made it a success.
