Striders gear up for Comrades Marathon
This weekend’s run is in preparation for the Comrades Marathon.
Kwa-Thema – Preparations for this year’s Comrades Marathon, set to take place in June in KwaZulu-Natal, are underway for various athletes nationwide and the Striders.
The Kwa-Thema Striders will have their 10-year Heidelberg edition run on Saturday in preparation for the big marathon.
The run, best described by the Striders as the final long run, will include a 65km run, a 21km run and a 10km walk.
All will start at 07:00 on the corner of Kgaswane and Motlhaping streets in Kwa-Thema. The route will be via Tsakani, Duduza, Nigel, Heidelberg Mall and back.

The club’s public relations officer, Sbongiseni Skosana, said those doing the 21km and 10km would turn back along the way but use the same route as those doing the 65km.
“Everyone is welcome to join the run. This is a lifestyle for us, and it can be a lifestyle for anyone,” said Skosana.
Skosana said the participants should arrive at least 30 minutes before the run starts. Refreshments will be on sale after the run.
