Mtshali’s JKA club redeem themselves

The Provincial Championships were held on May 19 and 20.

Kwa-ThemaEdward Mtshali’s Japanese Karate Association (JKA) club participated in the Gauteng Provincial Championships on May 19 and 20 at the Ellis Park Indoor Events Arena.

Fifteen junior club members participated on Friday, and two seniors on Saturday.

The tournament was also a qualifier for the JKA Africa Open Championships on July 28 and 29, also in Ellis Park.

All 17 members qualified for the championships. Shihan Mtshali said, “I am happy with the performance of the karatekas.

“They did well, especially because none did well enough to qualify in last year’s tournament.”

He said the members were disappointed last year but redeemed themselves because of their commitment.
