Refiloe Mosifane makes SA squad for World Para Athletics Championships
Refiloe Mosifane is the youngest South African squad member and stands a chance to qualify for the 2024 Paralympics.
Kwa-Thema – A Kwa-Thema Disability Club para-athlete, Refiloe Mosifane, made the squad of 26 athletes for the World Para Athletics Championships in Paris, France, from July 8 to 17.
Mosifane is part of the team that comprises experienced athletes who excelled at various international Para events.
Among them are Paralympians Ndodomzi Jonathan Ntutu, Zanele Situ, Tyron Pillay, Louzanne Coetzee, Liezel Gouws, Sheryl James, Mpumelelo Mhlongo and Tokyo Paralympics gold medalist in Para-cycling, Pieter du Preez.
Mosifane will run the 400m in the championships and stands a chance to qualify for the 2024 Paralympics.
Kwa-Thema disability club coach Aubrey Mathibela said he was proud of Mosifane and that he should continue working hard.
Mosifane is the youngest athlete selected to be part of the squad. He was chosen in Cape Town at the Toyota South Africa Sports Association for the Physically Disabled National Championship in March.
