Langaville – Kamama Society Group held a closing Women’s Month event in Langaville Ext 5 on Saturday.
This was to raise their flag, introducing them to society and robe the president while celebrating Women’s Month.
The president, Lizzie Thanjekwayo-Ngubeni, is a woman with many caps including being a pastor, Menzi Primary School’s SGB chairperson for the past 20 years and Ward 111 Faith Based Organisation chairperson.
“I work a lot on women and children issues and would like to see women becoming empowered,” Thanjekwayo-Ngubeni said.
She said women must have a mindset of working with each other and not against others.
Kamama has run a #womenempowerment programme where they had a social stokvel to help each other get driver’s licences.
“We should do something as women to eradicate poverty and we try to do so as Kamama,” she said.
The organisation also runs a feeding scheme programme in the afternoons on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the New Messiah Ekuphileni Church of Christ in Langaville.
