Kwatsaduza youth encouraged to join Scouts

Over 130 scouts attended with the support of their parents and the community.

Kwa-Thema – The Unified Scout Group hosted its first annual community awareness day at the I-MAC Scout Centre on Sunday.

The day showcased scouting and aimed to revive it in the Kwatsaduza area. Over 130 scouts, their parents and the community attended.

Nokuthula Howard received a special award for her 15 years of service.

Gugulethu Sibande also received a 15-year service medal and a 20-year bar, while Tebogo Rakgabyane received the rover wood badge parchment.

Scout group leader Tebogo Rakgabyane pleaded with parents to allow their children to join scouting.

The Unified Scout Group meets on Saturdays from 11:00 to 13:00 at 9936 on the corner of Wauchope and Lesia streets in Kwa-Thema.

They admit members aged five to 30:

• Meerkats: five and six years.

• Cubs: seven to 10 years.

• Scouts: 11 to 17 years.

• Rover Scouts: 18 to 30 years.
