Detective secures life sentence for murder

Twala was found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment.

Ekurhuleni district commissioner Major General Anna Sithole again commended detectives for their investigations in the dockets that led to lengthy jail terms.

At Tsakane SAPS, Detective Sergeant Godlive Baloyi was congratulated after John Thabo Twala (49) received a sentence of life imprisonment.

In December 2022, Nokthula Motloung was with her two children, aged seven and eight, at Twala’s home. He was her boyfriend at the time.

Twala took a knife from his waist and stabbed the victim several times. The victim was declared dead on the scene. Community members then apprehended him.

The docket was allocated to Baloyi, who connected all the dots to ensure justice was served for the affected families until the Benoni Magistrate’s Court found Twala guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
