Kwa-Thema Disability Club hosts talent development day

New club members were recruited at the talent development day on Saturday.

Kwa-Thema – Having fun while training was the order of the day when the Kwa-Thema Disability Club held its talent development day at the Kwa-Thema Sports Complex on Saturday.

The day aimed to show parents and the community what the club does while also trying to attract new players.

“We were able to identify and select seven new players who will join us at the club,” said the club’s chairperson and coach, Aubrey Mathibela.

Sixteen players from the club were selected to be part of the 2024 Toyota South African Sports Association for the Physically Disabled (SASAPD) National Championships in Bloemfontein from March 20 to 25.

The athletes will represent the province, some in CP Soccer and some in the para-athletics, among other sports.

The youngest of the group is 15-year-old Siphesihle Mabhena, who will compete in the javelin and shot put.
