Inappropriate items seized after school search

EMPD committed to promoting safety at schools.

Tsakani – Last Thursday morning, EMPD Social Crime Prevention Unit officers conducted surprise visits to Geluksdal and Langaville secondary schools.

With schools back in full swing for the second term, the EMPD officers and other law enforcement agencies hit the ground running to ensure safety at schools.

As part of the strategic planning for operations to be conducted at different schools throughout the CoE, the initiative ensured a safer school environment, with the assistance of the newly appointed Crime Prevention Wardens, that add manpower in combatting crimes in communities.

With schools being the hub where criminals pursue their recruits, officers made sure to curb such activities.

Among items confiscated were dagga, vape pipes, cigarettes, scissors and dagga grinders.

The EMPD will continue to partner with other law enforcement agencies to ensure safety at schools. The confiscated items were booked at the nearest police station.
