JVW celebrates home win against Springs Home Sweepers

JWV won the match against Springs Home Sweepers in a thrilling encounter for the Sasol League Open playoffs.

Jeppe Quondam hosted a highly competitive and intense Sasol League match between JVW FC and Springs Home Sweepers from Kwa-Thema on April 24.

The open playoffs saw JVW winning 1-0. The team has played four games so far in the league and has lost one.
Winners of the league will be promoted to the Hollywoodbets Super League.

JVW club founder and coach, Janine van Wyk, said, “A good start in the season for the teams and just building momentum going into the season ahead.”

She highlighted the challenges posed by the league’s format of having two streams as well.

“The team is doing well with great contenders but with two streams it becomes difficult to be the team that gets promoted.

“We believe that we are one of the better teams in the league,” stated Van Wyk.

Following a tightly contested affair, Springs Home Sweepers founder and head coach, Mkhonza ‘Skheshe’ Mkhonzana, reflected on the positives and areas for improvement.

“We had more scoring opportunities than JVW but they were able to score. This was by far one of the best games.

“If all the Sasol games can be this competitive I think women’s football, especially for young players, will progress in a big way,” said Mkhonzana.
