WATCH: EMPD warns against looting at scenes of CIT heists

No arrests were made.

Kwa-Thema – The EMPD urges the community to refrain from looting at the scenes of cash-in-transit (CIT) heists.

The warning follows an incident on Saturday morning where officers from the EMPD Intervention and Community Liaison units responded to a CIT heist in Kwa-Thema.

The officers received information about the crime in progress on Vlakfontein Road. On arrival, they found vehicles burning and many community members looting the cash from the CIT vehicle.

The EMPD urges the community to avoid being caught at these crime scenes, as looting money is a criminal offence.

Members of the community also endanger themselves because these situations are violent by nature.

No arrests were made.
