Ekurhuleni reschedules IPP public meetings

The appointed IPPs will be awarded 20-year contracts.

Following the postponement of the initial public meeting for the comments on the appointment of Independent Power Producers (IPPs) new dates have been set.

The city is again calling on members of the public to give input on the issue of IPPs.

The city plans to appoint multiple IPPs for various electricity generation technologies to a capacity of 1 500 megawatts.

The appointed IPPs will be awarded 20-year contracts.

Members of the community and other interested parties are invited to submit comments or representation to the municipality in respect of the proposed contract to April.dlamini@ekurhuleni.gov.za and Jabulile.kgomo@ekurhuleni.gov.za.

Physical public participation meetings will be held across all regions of the city as follows:

• East region: Springs, Nigel, Benoni, Brakpan to meet at Faranani Multi-purpose Hall on May 6 from 10:00 to 12:00.
