Teen athlete hopes to compete internationally

Young athlete shows signs of soon competing internationally.

Langaville – Rising star Zanele Mzizi (14) is making great strides in her running career after recently qualifying to compete in the SA Champs in Cape Town in the 3 000m event.

“She came 17th out of 57 participants. In my books, she did well because the competition was tough,” said Sakhi Kgapola, the coach and founder of the Langaville Athletics Academy.

At the Central Gauteng Athletics Youth, Junior and Senior Provincial Championships held at the University of Johannesburg Stadium on March 15, Mzizi finished the 1 500m in 05:04:30 and the 3 000m in 10:43:06.

“I am very proud of her. She has always given all her effort. I hope she inspires the runners younger than her,” Kgapola added.
