SAPS nab foreign national found with fake SA ID

EMPD officers arrested a 47-year-old man in Kwa-Thema after discovering suspected stolen vehicle parts linked to a hijacking and fraudulent identification documents during a raid on a suspected chop shop.

Kwa-Thema – EMPD Community Liaison Unit officers intercepted a 47-year-old man for having suspected stolen property and fraudulent documentation last Wednesday at around 12:30.

Acting on information from a reliable source about a chop shop in the area, officers went to an address on Motlamelle Street, where they found a male occupant and introduced themselves.

The officers conducted a check on engine parts found on the premises. The tests came back positive for a Germiston case of rape and hijacking.

While searching the premises, officers discovered a green SA ID book belonging to the man with a different name and surname from his Mozambican passport that he had given the officers.

Officers also found three cellphones.

They immediately handcuffed the man and took him to the Kwa-Thema Police Station. He faces charges of possession of suspected stolen property and possession of fraudulent documentation.
