Double murder under investigation following fatal shooting in Masechaba-View

Duduza – Local police are investigating a double murder following a fatal shooting in Masechaba-View on the evening of June 7. Warrant Officer Majang Skalkie said police were called to the scene at about 21:00 after reports of gunfire.

“On arrival, officers found a 30-year-old man lying in a pool of blood outside a house. He had sustained two visible gunshot wounds. Community members had already gathered at the scene,” she said.

The victim’s brother told police that another man had also been shot and was inside a nearby house.

“Officers proceeded to the second location, where a woman directed them to her 37-year-old partner. He was found on a couch with multiple gunshot wounds,” said Skalkie.

Paramedics were called to both scenes and declared the men dead on arrival.

“The motive behind the shooting is not yet known, and no suspects have been identified at this stage,” she added.

Police have opened a murder case and are following all leads. The SAPS urge anyone with information to contact their nearest police station.
