Boxer Super Store celebrates Mandela Day with Kwa-Thema elders
Local superstore honours Mandela Day with heartfelt visit to Kwa-Thema Society for the Care of the Aged.
Kwa-Thema – Kwa-Thema Boxer Super Store spent their 67 minutes for Mandela Day at the Kwa-Thema Society for the Care of the Aged (Kwa-Thema Old Age Home) on July 18.
The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement, cheering, and harmonious singing.
The store’s administrative manager, Thandokazi Sane, said Nelson Mandela spent most of his life fighting for freedom and equality, especially for young people.
“We felt the need to also give back to others, especially those in need. Our elders are important. They have raised most of us and provided us with endless love and compassion.
“Many still help raise our children while we go to work, so it is important to take care of our elders. Boxer is always giving back to the community through various initiatives.

“We make monthly donations to individuals and organisations who seek our help. This time, we decided to give back to the aged, as they rarely ask us for donations,” said Sane.
Sibongile Choba, the Kwa-Thema Society for the Care of the Aged manager, said the elders were beyond pleased by the generosity shown by Boxer.
“Boxer has launched a beautiful initiative for our elders and has made them feel special and recognised. We normally provide our beneficiaries with food, but this is an extra incentive. We want to show that there are those in the community who recognise them for who they are.
“There are people who are always open to doing nice things for them. We are grateful for the kind gesture,” said Choba.
She concluded that this act of kindness serves as a reminder to the beneficiaries that they are still important.
