Kutlwano Social Organisation uplifts 200 learners in Mandela Day community drive

In the true spirit of Mandela Day, Kutlwano Social Organisation stepped up to support over 200 learners with school shoes and dignity packs, while transforming a local school and uniting the community in service.

KWA-THEMA – Kutlwano Social Organisation proudly hosted a successful three-day Nelson Mandela Day celebration from July 18 to 20. The initiative brought hope and support to more than 200 learners across local schools.

The programme started with the distribution of school shoes and dignity packs to beneficiaries who were unable to attend the main event.

On Saturday, Kutlwano members, together with the Jeep Inmates Community, painted toilets and the school hall at Muzomusha Primary School. This effort helped to improve the learning environment for learners.

The main celebration was held on Sunday at the Kwa-Thema Community Hall. The event opened with a moment of silence in honour of the late Happy Sibande, principal of Ekurhuleni TVET College, who had been scheduled as the keynote speaker.

Learners from Muzomusha and Job Maseko primary schools, along with Zimisele and Lefa-Ifa secondary schools, received school shoes and dignity packs.

In total, 200 learners benefited from the initiative, which aimed to support vulnerable children and promote dignity through education.

“We would like to thank our members and key partners. Councillor Thulani Simelane, Liebherr Group, PFG, and Desperados MCC made generous contributions,” said Matshele Motlhabane of Kutlwano.

“We also appreciate the support from Vukile Industrial and Safety Supplies, Tshipi Noto Funeral Home, Tele Wholesale Stationers, and McDonald’s Tsakane Mall for making this event such a resounding success.”

Motlhabane said the initiative was a tribute to Nelson Mandela’s legacy.

“We honour Nelson Mandela’s legacy by continuing to uplift and serve our communities. Let us continue to make every day a Mandela Day.”
