EMPD arrests four in busts across Duduza and Putfontein, seizing heroin, Mandrax, crystal meth and cat
The EMPD Community Liaison and K9 Units have arrested four suspects in separate operations for possession and dealing in illegal substances, seizing heroin, Mandrax, crystal meth, and cat with a combined street value of over R7 000.
Duduza and Puttfontein – The EMPD Community Liaison Unit (CLU) and K9 Unit officers apprehended four male suspects in separate incidents for possession and dealing in illegal substances in Duduza and Putfontein on August 11 and 12.
On August 11, a member of the community approached EMPD members patrolling in Duduza to inform them about a 24-year-old man allegedly selling drugs on Mandela and Sonnestraal streets.
The officers followed up on the information, during which they observed the suspect in a suspicious exchange. The members apprehended the suspect and found 24 plastic bags of heroin (nyaope) with an estimated street value of R950, along with R40 in cash, in his possession.
On August 12, during an intelligence-driven operation, the EMPD members received information about a 30-year-old man who was heading to Duduza to deliver substances to a client. They arrested the suspect on Sonnestraal Street. He had 22 Mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R1 100 in his possession.
As the operation continued, the members followed up on another lead. Members of the CLU went to a residence on Cwayi Street, where they apprehended a man between the ages of 20 and 30 years.
The suspect had 30 ziplock plastic bags of crystal meth and 15 ziplock bags of cat with an estimated street value of R4 000.
Meanwhile, at approximately 09:15, K9 Unit members arrested a 23-year-old man at Zwakala informal settlement in Putfontein.
The suspects had 20 ziplock plastic bags of crystal meth and R1 050 in cash in his possession.
