Little Excellence and Nursery Academy shines at Gauteng Provincial Spelling Bee

Five young stars from Little Excellence and Nursery Academy took on the best in the province at the Gauteng Spelling Bee, and came home with top honours, including a first-place win, trophies, and prizes that made their school beam with pride.

Little Excellence and Nursery Academy was invited to the Gauteng Provincial Spelling Bee competition on August 16, competing with eight other crèches around the province.

“Due to getting the invitation late, we were not able to prepare all our Grade R class in time. We only had five learners participating in the spelling bee,” explained principal Charlotte Makitla.

Bophelo Ramotlalane, Dineo Mashupye, Luna Mthethwa, Lwandile Gusha, and Kgothatso Twala made their school proud.

“Our learners represented us extremely well. Bophelo won first place for spelling and writing for the whole Gauteng province, receiving a laptop, trophy, certificate, medal, and a R2 000 voucher to be used at Toys R Us.

“Dineo won top five in the province for spelling, and she won a certificate and a customised Born To Read school bag,” added Makitla.

The other three learners received certificates of participation in the competition. Makitla was super proud of all her learners, saying, “Being their teacher made the experience amazing. I’m very proud of my class.”

Nontokozo Makitla, the deputy principal, was ecstatic and could not hold back her tears.

“I’m so proud of Little Excellence and Nursery Academy,” she said.
