KwaTsaDuza learners equipped with digital skills in groundbreaking literacy programme
Grade 10 and 11 learners from Mbongeni Mgugudu Secondary gain essential digital skills through a pioneering programme by School Is Cool NPC and partners.
Duduza – School Is Cool NPC, in collaboration with NEMISA NPC and Africans United for the Long-Lasting Development of Africa (AULDA), is hosting a digital literacy programme at NEMISA offices from August 25 to 29.
It teaches school pupils how to effectively, safely, and critically use digital technologies and online information.
It also aims to empower KwaTsaDuza learners by equipping grades 10 and 11 learners from local schools with essential digital skills, enhancing their prospects.
Mbongeni Mgugudu Secondary School learners participated in a one-day course, receiving certificates in digital literacy on August 26.
“This initiative highlights the importance of digital literacy in today’s technology-driven world. By providing learners with these skills, School Is Cool and its partners are bridging the digital divide and empowering the youth for future success.
“The programme will continue its mission to impact learners from various schools in KwaTsaDuza. Our efforts as an NPC demonstrate commitment to improving the lives of young people in the community,” explained School Is Cool NPC president Tshepo Sithole.
Sithole noted that digital literacy is key to unlocking future opportunities, saying they are proud to partner with NEMISA and AULDA on a mission to uplift the youth.
“We look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on the community,” he added.
Tshenolo Molefi, who is a motivational speaker, highlighted the importance of the programme to the learners.
He noted how alcohol, drug abuse and teenage pregnancy are some of the biggest obstacles faced by the youth.
“Such programmes as are offered today serve to curb these trends,” he said
Plans are in place to grow this initiative beyond the borders of KwaTsaDuza into Gauteng.
