Women’s Month Operation held by law enforcement
Multi-faceted operation led by all women leads to arrests, confiscations.
On August 26, a Woman’s Month operation involving EMPD officers, National Traffic Police, SAPS, Gauteng Traffic Wardens, Ekurhuleni City Planning, Economic Development, Environmental Health, and the Department of Home Affairs Immigration yielded six arrests and saw 17 minibuses impounded in Brakpan and Tsakani.
The multi-faceted, all-women-led operation kicked off on Ergo Road in Brakpan, where officers focused on public transport compliance, stop-and-searches, driver fitness, and vehicle roadworthiness.
During this phase, 17 minibuses operating without the necessary documentation were taken to the Benoni impound yard.
The second phase swept through Tsakani, where six suspects, aged between 22 and 42, were arrested.
The EMPD Speed Unit arrested two motorists for exceeding the 60 km/h limit, while Immigration officers apprehended four undocumented foreign nationals.
The Department of Environmental Health confiscated food unfit for human consumption, valued at approximately R1 500.
Additionally, two non-compliant liquor outlets had alcohol worth R6 000 confiscated and booked at Tsakane Police Station.
The six suspects were detained at Tsakane SAPS.
