Junior Ballers beat Kwa-Thema Flames in tense U13 showdown
A nail-biting U13 soccer match between the Junior Ballers FC and the Kwa-Thema Flames ended 2-1 in favour of the Ballers, with both coaches reflecting on the lessons learnt.
Kwa-Thema – The recent U13 game between the Junior Ballers FC and the Kwa-Thema Flames kept spectators on their feet.
The Junior Ballers FC scored its first goal a few minutes into the first half, but the Flames soon equalised through a penalty.
Ballers coach Tebogo ‘G.beek’ Mathabathe described the game as hectic, saying their opponents were defensive.
“We played well, but players at the back made small mistakes, which weighed on us. They lost concentration, which hurt the communication structure,” said Mathabathe.
“In the second half, I restructured the team and advised them to maintain form. They did as instructed and, as a result, we scored another impressive goal.”

The game concluded with a 2-1 win for the Junior Ballers FC, with their coach saying he was beyond happy with how the game ended.
He added that he noted the mistakes and would rectify them during practice. Thembinkosi Mashinini, the Kwa-Thema Flames coach, said he was unhappy with how the game played out.
“The first half was unimpressive, but I understand why. My players are new to soccer and still adjusting. “Many are fairly new to this team and have not learnt each other’s strengths and weaknesses, which also affected communication during the game,” he explained.
He added that they would do better in the upcoming games.
