Illegal mining raid leads to arrest and equipment seizure

A joint sting operation by Blue Hawk Tactical and Springs SAPS put a stop to illegal mining in the area, leading to one arrest and the seizure of equipment.

In a sting operation on September 5, officers from Blue Hawk Tactical, Springs SAPS, and the SAPS District Illicit Mining Unit clamped down on illegal mining activity in the Springs area.

One suspect was arrested and detained during the operation.

Equipment seized on site included two carbon tanks, three pendukas, four bags of GBM/material, two electric motors with gearboxes, seven wheelbarrows, three shovels, and three water pumps.

According to the Blue Hawk Tactical area manager, all evidence was booked at the Springs police station along with the detained suspect.
