Sold-out showdown: Orlando Pirates face Stellenbosch FC in high-stakes MTN8 final

All roads lead to Mbombela this Saturday as Orlando Pirates lock horns with Stellenbosch FC in a sold-out MTN8 final. Expect drama, passion, and a clash worthy of champions.

Fans are preparing to be overwhelmed by anxiety and excitement as Orlando Pirates clash with Stellenbosch FC in a sold-out MTN8 final in Mbombela on Saturday.

The defending champions secured their spot in the final after beating Mamelodi Sundowns 4-1 on penalties at Lucas Maripe Stadium.

Sundowns did not make it easy for the Bucs to advance from the two-part semis after holding them to a one-all draw on August 16 and 23.

“They have proven why they are champions. I have said before that Pirates bring a different energy when they play cup games. At this point, I am behind them,” said Mmeselane Ramushu, a Mamelodi Sundowns supporter.

He said that the head coach of Stellenbosch FC, Steve Barker, has a wealth of experience.

“Pirates could win, but Stellenbosch will not just hand over the cup,” he added.

The Bucs have won the MTN8 the last three times.

“The coach has been doing well, and I hope that the club will give him more time to settle in and get used to the players. We are going to Mbombela, and we are expecting the players to deliver a worthy performance,” said Rangwane Makgabutlane, an Orlando Pirates supporter.

He predicts that his team will win 2-0. He also commended the fans for behaving appropriately at the stadiums. Soccer lovers will meet at Ekhaya Centre from 07:00 on Saturday to make their way to Mbombela Stadium.
