The Springs Premier Football Club held its fundraiser event in warm weather with the aim of celebrating team spirit and bringing parents and players together.

The fundraiser took place at the club’s home ground, Veritas College, on October 25. Team manager Janine Venter said many people attended the event but she had hoped for more from Springs and neighbouring communities. She said the fundraiser has the potential to grow into a town-wide celebration.

She explained that the day was about showcasing the vibrant talent within the community. She added that the local vendors brought flavour, fun, and variety to the day, giving families more reasons to stay, connect, and enjoy the event.

“The community involvement is important because it is the heartbeat of our club. When families, coaches, and volunteers come together, we create more than just a football programme; we build a village where children feel supported, celebrated, and inspired to grow on and off the field,” said Venter.

She also noted that events like the fundraiser are important for the players as they serve as a reminder that their efforts are seen and valued.

Players beamed with pride receiving their awards, and the friendly competition of the 6-a-side games brought out laughter, teamwork, and joy.

For staff and coaches, it was a moment to reflect on the impact they’ve made. Planning an event comes with challenges, and Venter said coordinating three major activities in one day was no small feat.

“We had to manage schedules, weather contingencies, vendor logistics, and team rotations, all while keeping the day flowing smoothly. But thanks to our committee and volunteers, we pulled it off with pride.”

She explained that the funds raised from the event will help the club upgrade training equipment, support families with club fees, and ensure every child has access to quality kits and coaching. The focus is on practical resources that directly benefit the players and teams.

She thanked everyone who attended. Venter said the club will be hosting another event that will be bigger and better.

She also shared plans for pre-season bootcamps, especially for players who did not grow up playing football from a young age.

These sessions will focus on building foundational skills in a supportive, fun environment to help every child feel confident stepping onto the pitch.
