Ekurhuleni Talented Academy launches fundraising drive to empower young footballers
Ekurhuleni Talented Academy is appealing to businesses and community members to support its youth football programme, which nurtures young talent while steering children away from drugs and crime through structured sport and mentorship.
Ekurhuleni Talented Academy (ETA) is on a mission to empower young athletes and steer them away from negative influences.
“We provide a safe, structured space where young people can develop their football skills, build strong character, and grow into disciplined, responsible individuals,” explained coach Asher Manasoe.
ETA proudly represents Ekurhuleni, competing against some of the biggest names in youth football across U11, U13, U15 and U17 age categories.
“We are continuously scouting talented players who are ready to wear the badge and represent the city with pride.
“We compete in high-level competitions against teams such as Mamelodi Sundowns Juniors, Orlando Pirates Academy, Kaizer Chiefs Youth, and other Gauteng Development Environment (GDE) League teams, and we are rising to the challenge,” he added.
Manasoe believes that by supporting ETA, the community helps keep children off the streets, away from drugs, and actively involved in positive, goal-driven activities.
“Together, we are nurturing talent, strengthening community development, and shaping the future of Ekurhuleni,” he said.
Meet the team:
- Asher Junior (U11): Speedster and team motivator
- Themba “T-Bone” Mkhize (U15): Defensive rock and natural leader
- Lethabo “Lethal” Ngwenya (U13): Midfield magician
- Kesaun “Kez” Patel (U17): Goal-scoring sensation
The team’s player of the month is Lethabo “Lethal” Ngwenya. He scored five goals in three matches, playing a key role in ETA U13’s winning the GDE League title.
The teams’ needs include new jerseys, soccer balls, training equipment and tournament fees.
