Ekurhuleni announces scheduled power interruptions in Kwa-Thema

Residents in several areas of Kwa-Thema should prepare for scheduled power outages as the City of Ekurhuleni conducts substation maintenance from March 16 to April 15.

The City of Ekurhuleni has announced planned electricity supply interruptions in parts of Kwa-Thema as technicians conduct maintenance work on substations. The maintenance programme will run from March 18 to April 25.

According to the municipality, the interruptions are necessary to ensure the reliability and safety of the electricity network. Residents in the affected areas are urged to make the necessary arrangements during the scheduled outage periods.

In Kwa-Thema, the power supply interruptions will take place between 08:00 and 18:00 on the following dates and areas:

  • March 18 – Tornado Substation: Tornado and Phomolo.
  • March 19 – Rest In Peace Substation: Rest In Peace and Mjondolo.
  • March 20 – White City Substation: White City and a portion of Kwa-Thema Ext 6.
  • March 23 – Vergenoeg Substation: Vergenoeg and a portion of Kwa-Thema Ext 6.
  • March 24 – Gugulethu Substation: Gugulethu and a portion of Masimini.
  • March 25 – Masimini Substation: Masimini.

Residents are advised to treat electrical networks as live while repairs and maintenance are ongoing, as electricity may be restored at any time once work has been completed.

The City of Ekurhuleni encourages residents to plan accordingly during the scheduled interruptions.
