Little Excellence and Nursery Academy inspires young readers on World Book Day library trip
Learners from Little Excellence and Nursery Academy explored the joy of reading during a fun-filled World Book Day visit to the local library.
Kwa-Thema – Little Excellence and Nursery Academy recently celebrated World Book Day with an exciting educational trip to the local library.
The learners, teachers, and caregivers were filled with joy and excitement as they embarked on a journey to explore the wonderful world of books.
The visit was not only fun and memorable, but it also taught the children the importance of reading and how books can shape their future.
As the children entered the library, they were amazed by the shelves filled with colourful storybooks, picture books, educational books, and fairy tales.
The librarians warmly welcomed the learners and introduced them to the magical world of reading.
“The children listened carefully to storytelling sessions, explored different books, and learned how to handle books with care and respect.
“Many of our learners were excited to discover new stories and characters that inspired their imagination.
“Teaching children to read at a young age is one of the most important gifts parents and we teachers can give them,” said the founder, Nontokozo Makitla.
“Reading helps children develop language and communication skills, improves concentration, and builds confidence.
“When children read regularly, they expand their vocabulary and learn how to express themselves clearly,” she added.
Makitla cited that reading also strengthens their imagination and creativity, allowing them to dream big and think independently.
She added that books play a very important role in children’s lives because they are a source of knowledge, wisdom, and entertainment.
“Through books, children learn about different cultures, animals, people, and places around the world.

“Books teach important life lessons such as kindness, honesty, sharing, and respect. They also help children understand emotions and develop empathy towards others,” she added.
The library trip encouraged the learners to develop a love for reading from an early age.
“It reminded everyone that books are powerful tools that can open doors to endless opportunities and brighter futures.
“By promoting reading habits among young children, the school continues to nurture confident, intelligent, and creative learners who will grow into successful individuals,” she cited.
World Book Day was truly a special and meaningful experience for the learners. The smiles on their faces showed how much they enjoyed the trip and how excited they were to continue reading and learning.
The academy remains committed to encouraging literacy and inspiring every child to discover the joy and importance of books.
