Kwa-Thema, Tsakani and Duduza among areas facing water interruptions

Rand Water’s planned maintenance is expected to impact multiple communities.

Rand Water has informed the City of Ekurhuleni of its planned maintenance, scheduled between May 29 and July 19.

During this period some parts of the city will experience intermittent water supply or reduced water pressure.

Water tankers will be deployed to affected residential areas during this period, and details of tanker locations will be communicated closer to the time on the city’s digital communication platforms.

Residents and business are advised that water supply will be restored gradually after completion of the maintenance as the supply system takes time to accumulate adequate pressure.

It may take up to two weeks after the maintenance period for water pressure and supply to return to normal, especially in high lying areas.

In preparation for the maintenance period, residents and businesses are advice to:

  • Store water for essential use in clean containers.
  • Reduce non-essential water use (irrigation, car washing, topping up pools).
  • Follow City of Ekurhuleni and Rand Water communication channels for updates, tanker locations and timetables.

Many local areas are expected to be affected on May 29 from 07:00 to 19:00, with the municipality listing the following areas: Kwa-Thema Exts Two and Three, Tsakani, Langaville, Geluksdal, Duduza, Masechaba View, Bluegum View, Coolbreeze, and John Dube Village.

According to the municipality, maintenance work starting at 07:00 on July 17 until 19:00 on July 19 (60 hours) will affect the following areas: Kwa-Thema Exts Two and Three, Duduza, Masechaba View, Bluegum View, Coolbreeze, John Dube Village, Langaville Ext 10, and Tsakani Exts 19, 20 and 21.
