Police investigate murder of 31-year-old man in Langaville

A 31-year-old man was shot dead near the Langaville taxi rank on Wednesday evening

Tsakani – Police are investigating a murder case after a 31-year-old man was fatally shot in Langaville Ext 8, near the taxi rank, on the evening of July 8.

According to information from Ekurhuleni SAPS district spokesperson Captain Neldah Sekgobela, officers were responding to complaints in Tsakani when they received a report of a murder at about 19:00.

“Upon arrival at the scene on Mfolozi Street, police found the victim lying motionless on his back.

“An examination revealed that he had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body,” she said.

“Preliminary information provided by the deceased’s brother alleges that the victim was shot by two unknown men.”

Sekgobela mentioned that the suspects reportedly fled the scene in a white Toyota Tazz with an unknown registration number.

“Police cordoned off the area, and all relevant role players were summoned to the scene.

“Several spent cartridges were recovered as part of the investigation. The motive for the killing remains unknown, and no arrests have been made,” she added.

Police have opened a murder case, and investigations are continuing. Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is urged to contact the Tsakane SAPS.
