Kwa-Thema – Police have launched a murder investigation following the fatal shooting of a 49-year-old man at his home in Kwa-Thema Ext 3 on the evening of July 8.

According to Ekurhuleni SAPS district spokesperson Captain Neldah Sekgobela, the incident occurred at about 19:00 on Gugushe Street.

It is alleged that the deceased was alone inside his house when an unknown suspect entered and opened fire on him.

“The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body and died at the scene.

“Police recovered about 15 spent 9mm cartridges from inside the house during the initial investigation,” explained Sekgobela.

Sekgobela mentioned that officers conducted inquiries at the scene, but no information regarding the identity of the suspect or suspects was immediately available.

“The motive for the murder has not yet been established, and no arrests have been made,” she added.

Police are continuing with investigations and appeal to anyone with information that may assist in identifying the suspect or suspects to contact Kwa-Thema SAPS.
