Duduza SAPS investigate security guard’s death after suspected smoke inhalation
A 31-year-old security guard was found dead in a guard room container at a dumping site in Duduza, with police suspecting smoke inhalation from a burning coal stove.
Duduza – The Duduza SAPS responded swiftly to a call from a security guard who was scheduled to report for duty on July 17 at a dumping site in the Kuvuki section of Duduza.
According to Ekurhuleni SAPS district spokesperson Captain Neldah Sekgobela, the security guard informed the police that he found the lifeless body of his colleague, dressed in a full security guard uniform, on the couch in the guard room container as he reported on duty that morning.
“According to the paramedics, who were called to the scene, the 31-year-old male security guard is suspected to have suffered from smoke inhalation.
“There was a coal pot (imbawula) with burning coal in the guard room container where he was found,” she explained.
The deceased was found with no visible injuries. An inquest case docket was opened by the Duduza SAPS.
