NIGEL – The murder case of rising amapiano artist Freddy Peace Mokoena ( 20) from Duduza has been postponed to March 30 for a formal bail application and further proceedings.

The postponement follows the third appearance of four suspects allegedly linked to the murder of the artist, also known as Freddy the Vocalist.

They appeared in the Nigel Magistrate’s Court on February 19. Family spokesperson and aunt Matseko Mokoena said the family remains devastated and continues to call for justice.

“It remains an overwhelming loss for our family. We are still struggling to accept that Freddy’s life was cut short in such a tragic way.

“He was a young man full of passion, kindness and dreams, and his absence left a deep void in our lives. We trust that justice will be served, and we firmly believe those responsible should remain in custody.

“Nothing can bring him back, but accountability is important for our healing and for the sake of his memory. We are deeply grateful to the community for the compassion, prayers and support shown to us during this difficult time.

“Their strength has carried us, and we ask that they continue to stand with us as the legal process unfolds,” she said.

Community member Thabo Nkosi said the loss has deeply affected residents, especially young people who looked up to the artist.

“Freddy was a talented young man who inspired many in the community through his music and his determination to succeed. His passing has left many of us shocked and heartbroken.

“As a community, we stand with the family and hope that justice will prevail. We also want to see peace restored and for young people to feel safe pursuing their dreams,” he said.
