Coach encourages parents to build children’s confidence through soccer

Local coach Obakeng Mapotela emphasises the role of parents in nurturing young talent, urging them to attend games, cheer their children on, and help boost confidence both on and off the soccer field.

Tsakani – Coach Obakeng Mapotela said many children are talented in soccer, but it is not nurtured enough by parents.

“Soccer is more than just a game; it is a platform for building confidence, teamwork, and discipline in children,” he said.

The coach said many parents do not come to the ground to support their children during soccer games and that sometimes affects their confidence.

Mapotela is calling on parents to actively support their young players by attending matches and encouraging them, highlighting that parental involvement can make a lasting impact on their development.

“Parents play a crucial role in shaping their children’s confidence.

“When you show up for games, cheer for them, and allow them to participate fully, you are helping them grow not just as players, but as individuals,’ he cited.

He mentioned that encouragement goes a long way, saying it teaches children resilience, pride, and the belief that they can achieve their goals.

“Do not miss out on supporting your children. Be present, be positive, and watch them thrive on and off the field,” he advised.
