Sula Saturday celebrates East Rand’s rising stars in Nigel
Talent Libhaya Ekasi recognised outstanding emerging artists and DJs while creating a platform for young creatives to showcase their skills during Sula Saturday in Nigel.
DUDUZA – Talent Libhaya Ekasi brought together aspiring musicians, DJs and entertainers during its recent SULA Saturday event at Theatrix Bar and Lounge in Nigel.
The Duduza-founded organisation created a platform for young creatives to showcase their talent and connect with one another.
Founder Matokollo Ratau (24) encouraged young people to pursue their dreams in the entertainment industry. The event recognised creatives across various categories.
Amogelang Ntshabelle, from Tsakane, was named Best Upcoming Artist, while Thapelo Gxowa, from Duduza, received the Best Upcoming DJ award.
Both winners received Talent Libhaya Ekasi certificates and trophies sponsored by JNBM Private Security Company and Gushlife Lifestyle.

“SULA Saturday was created to change the perception of nightlife by encouraging young people to use social gatherings as opportunities to promote their talents.
“SULA Saturday is a gathering where young people can come together at one venue to support local talent.
“We want them to realise that instead of only dressing up to go out, they can also use the opportunity to market themselves as upcoming artists, DJs and MCs,” said Ratau.
She explained that the initiative aims to build confidence among emerging entertainers by giving them a safe platform to perform and network.
“The aim is to create an open space where upcoming artists and DJs can feel safe, get to know one another and share their stories.

“We want them to believe in themselves and realise that their dreams are valid,” she added.
As part of the initiative, Talent Libhaya Ekasi will also launch the Come Chat with Captain podcast, where local artists and DJs will share their personal journeys, challenges and experiences in the entertainment industry.
Ratau said the name SULA Saturday encourages young people to dress stylishly while celebrating and supporting township talent.
“The celebrities we support today all started somewhere, and many of them come from townships. That is why we believe in Talent Libhaya Ekasi,” she said.
The next SULA Saturday event is scheduled to take place in Wattville in September.
