Duduza – The Duduza SAPS in partnership with many other stakeholders visited Bring Back Hope NGO in Duduza on July 17.

The visit formed part of the Mandela Day celebration. Bring Back Hope NGO feeds over 300 children on weekends in Zamani, Duduza.

The day started with a convoy consisting of CPF patrollers and the SAPS to the venue.

“The patrollers paraded their new bicycles for visibility and continued to patrol the area throughout the event.

“The social crime prevention coordinator, CPF acting chairperson, WASP, brigades, LDAC and spiritual crime prevention members shared information relating to child safety, GBFV, substance abuse, community safety and fruitful partnerships,” said Duduza SAPS social crime prevention coordinator and communications officer, Constable Nobuhle Mnisi.

The SAPS and stakeholders collected items of clothing, non-perishable food and shoes which were handed over to the NGO.

An elderly woman, who has been using a broken wheelchair was identified by Bring Back Hope NGO.

The stakeholders managed to secure a wheelchair for her and handed it over as part of the outreach programme.

Children from Bring Back Hope NGO entertained the audience with their creative amapiano dance moves, traditional dancing, gwijo songs and an amapantsula dance routine.

“The outreach programme was aimed at strengthening the relationship between the SAPS, its stakeholders and the community, promoting the spirit of Ubuntu, and lending a helping hand to those in need to try and bring back the hope that the community might have lost in law enforcement entities,” added Mnisi.
