Duduza – Warm hearts and generous giving took centre stage as community-based organisation Do Good to Others Drive recently hosted its annual Free Market Day, providing residents with free pre-loved winter clothing and shoes.

Held at the Duduza New Taxi Rank in Bluegum View, the initiative aimed to restore dignity and bring relief to individuals and families struggling to stay warm during the winter season.

The organisation spent the past year collecting gently used clothing and footwear from donors to ensure the event could benefit as many people as possible.

Organisation member Nkosana Mashinini said the initiative was created to ensure that clothing no longer needed by one person could make a meaningful difference in someone else’s life.

“Our goal is to collect good-quality pre-loved clothing and distribute it to people in need within our community,” said Mashinini.

He described this year’s event as a resounding success, with large numbers of residents attending to receive much-needed winter essentials.

“It was heartwarming to see so many community members come through and receive the support they needed.

“Seeing the smiles on their faces made all our hard work worthwhile and turned our vision into reality,” he added.

Mashinini thanked everyone who donated clothing, volunteered their time and supported the initiative throughout the year, saying their generosity made the event possible.
