Kwa-Thema actor Njabulo Kagiso Motlhabi nominated for BAA Awards
Local actor Njabulo Kagiso Motlhabi has been nominated for a Background Actors and Actresses Award, recognising his growing contribution to South Africa's film and television industry.
Kwa-Thema – Kwa-Thema-born actor Kagiso Motlhabi (31) is celebrating a major career milestone after receiving a nomination at the Background Actors and Actresses Awards (BAA Awards).
Motlhabi is professionally known as Carvege the Savage, has earned recognition for his dedication, professionalism and growing impact in South Africa’s film and television industry.
The BAA Awards acknowledge the important role played by supporting and background performers in the entertainment industry, with Motlhabi’s nomination highlighting his commitment to the craft.
He is currently portraying a doctor in the short film adaptation of Two DNAs, written by Pam Faku, adding another notable role to his expanding acting portfolio.
Over the years, Motlhabi has appeared in several popular South African productions, including Champions, House of Zwide, Generations, Soon Comes Night, My Brother’s Keeper, uBaba Stivovo, and Smoke and Mirrors.
“My theatre journey began with One Theatre’s production of The Deceptions, where I showcased my versatility as a performer.
“Beyond acting, I continue to invest in my personal and professional growth,” he said.
Motlhabi has obtained certificates in Business Administration, Digital Marketing and Introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI), demonstrating his commitment to continuous learning.
Outside the entertainment industry, he enjoys creating humorous prank content and using comedy to connect with audiences.
“I also hope to inspire others to pursue their dreams and believe success is most meaningful when it creates opportunities for others.
“Receiving a BAA Awards nomination marks another significant step in my career as I continue to build an impressive body of work across television, film and theatre,” Motlhabi cited.
