Kwa-Thema women gather to celebrate wellness and empowerment
Women came together for a day of wellness and meaningful conversations as one Kwa-Thema resident’s vision became a reality.
What started as an idea blossomed into an event that left women feeling empowered, inspired and connected.
To conclude Women’s Month, Kwa-Thema resident Dimakatso Motsoeneng hosted the Gather and Glow – Women’s Wellness Experience event at Sgegede Acres on August 29.
She organised the event with her colleagues, Gladys Ginindza and Mpho Macheke, who worked to make the vision come to life.

“I wanted women to have an experience where they just come as they are and they leave feeling renewed and confident.
“We women are always taking care of others – putting our family’s needs before our own – but this event is catered to putting women first and celebrating us,” Motsoeneng said.
The day’s programme included a hand and foot massage, sip and paint, and empowering conversations from experts.

Bessy Vilakazi, a nursing professional with over 35 years in public health, occupational health and private practice, talked about breast and cervical cancer.
She encouraged the women to do frequent health checks, and gave them knowledge on the symptoms as well as the way forward after a diagnosis.
Life coach and author of the book ‘Get to know the person that you are’, Silungile Msiza, spoke about the importance of taking care of your emotional well-being.

“There are five factors that affect our everyday life, spirituality, career, relationships, finance, our health and self,” she said.
She introduced an activity where attendees could score how happy they were with each aspect on a scale of 1 to 10.
“The ones you’ve scored the lowest are often the things that you think about often which causes even more stress. What matters is how you choose to deal with that stress,” Msiza said.

She encouraged women to find hobbies that fulfil them in order to focus less on stress and more on getting better.
The co-owner of Touch and Glow spa, Lindiwe Masango, talked beauty and self-care, while Michelle Daves, a financial wellness advocate, spoke about how to maintain a healthy relationship with your finances.
The ladies enjoyed a lovely lunch.
