Tsakani – CPF chairperson Mncedisi Somyo urges parents to keep children supervised and off the streets.

He urged parents to work collaboratively with sports coaches and neighbours to help keep children safe and away from harmful activities.

“School holidays often leave children with more free time, making it important for parents and guardians to know how they spend their days and who they spend time with.

“Parents are encouraged to involve children in positive activities such as sport, reading, church programmes and other hobbies that can keep them engaged and productive,” he said.

The CPF also urged parents to communicate openly with their children and watch for changes in their behaviour.

Somyo said that parents should also know their children’s friends and be aware of where they are going when leaving home.

“Parents are encouraged to work together with the CPF and other community structures to promote the safety and well-being of children during the holidays,” he concluded.
