The U15 Junior Aces and Future Stars players braved the wet weather on Saturday to play a game of soccer.
Supporters, however, were not as brave, as only two people were seen watching the game, but this did not dampen the young boys’ spirits.
The Brakpan Local Football Association game took place at Malandela ground, Tsakane.
Aces had an opportunity to register its name on the score card in the first five minutes of the game, but failed to finish, giving Stars’ defenders an opportunity to clear the ball.
Aces did not give up searching for a goal, but kept wasting scoring opportunities.
Future Stars were the first to lead, when Sibusiso Mhanga sneaked the ball behind Aces’ keeper.
The first free kick of the game was awarded to Aces for a foul committed against their player, but it yielded no positive result.
Refiwe Tsotetsi, who plays winger, eventually got tired of his team’s unsuccessful attempts and scored a goal for Junior Aces.
Shortly after, Refiwe put his team in the lead when he scored another goal.
At half-time the score was 2-1 in favour of Junior Aces.
The second half did not have much action, but Siyabonga Kgetsi, who plays striker for Future Stars, was impressive and worked hard trying to equalise.
Junior Aces’ Kamogelo Phadu sealed Future Stars’ fate when he scored the last goal of the match, making the final score 3-1.
