Local learners going to Durban for SASAII nationals

Durban here they come.

While cricket and swimming took place at the KwaThema Sports Complex, others played black ball pool and table tennis at Phelang LSEN.

Four Gauteng metros, including Ekurhuleni, Mogale, Johannesburg and Tshwane, met in KwaThema on Saturday.

All had hopes of being selected to be part of the team that will represent the province in Durban from April 11 to 16.

They will participate in the South African Sports Association for the Intellectually Impaired (SASAII) national summer games.

Learners from Phelang LSEN and Matshediso LSEN, managed to book places in all four sporting codes.

The swimmers had to reach the qualifying times in their respective style, namely butterfly, freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke.

Cricket tested the hopefuls on their batting and bowling skills.

While black ball pool and table tennis held many rounds of knock-out games until the top 16 remained.
