Valencia to the Regional League
After being crowned as the 2013/2014 Springs Local Football Association (SLFA) season's champions, Valencia will be playing in the Regional League.
The U/13 team will be competing with the other champions from different soccer associations around Ekurhuleni.
Valencia’s coach, Thembinkosi Mtoyintoni says the team’s hard work paid off after they were announced as the season’s champions.
He says competing with the toughest teams did not make it easy for his team to win the league. “There were teams that were not easy to defeat during the games but we continued working much harder to ensure that we came up to the top,” says Mtoyintoni.
Adding that they are proud of being the one team from KwaThema to play in the Regional League and that they will not only represent their team but the community of KwaThema as well. He also thanked the parents of the young boys for allowing them to be part of the team.
“Parents have sacrificed their time with their children and trusted the coaches to train their boys to become the super soccer stars of tomorrow,” he says.
Captain Njabulo Maseko, who is also the team’s top goal scorer, encourages his teammates to stay focused and attend all their training sessions.
“Dedication and focus are the powerful tools that we use to win every game,” says Njabulo. He promises the KwaThema community that his team will represent them well and take home the championship title. The Regional League games are expected to start tomorrow (Saturday) until October 25 at the Boksburg Stadium.
