Ready for the cricket festival games

Seven players from the KwaThema Cricket Club were selected to play in the Eastern Junior Cricket Club Festival later this year

The U/12 and U/16 players were selected after attending the Eastern Junior Cricket Club trials at Willowmoore Stadium in February.

During the games, they will be playing against the teams from Zimbabwe and other African countries.

Coach Troy Ntsoane says his players deserve to play in the Eastern Junior Cricket Club Festival.

“They are all hard workers and I have no doubt that they will represent and make KwaThema proud,” says Troy.

He says his players are training hard with the players from different teams at the Willowmoore Stadium in Benoni in preparation of the festival games.

On May 9 all the selected players will attend a capping ceremony in Benoni, an event aimed at congratulating for being the top players to play in the cricket games’ festival.

Bonginkosi Nkono (11), one of the selected players, says he is proud to be one of KwaThema Cricket Club players to take part in the games.

He says, to him his appointment means a great achievement and he says he will play to ensure that people who will be watching him on the field will always remember the cricket talent that exists in KwaThema.

One of Bonginkosi’s dreams is to play for the national cricket team.

“I know that through hard work and discipline, my dream will be fulfilled,” confidently concludes Bonginkosi.
