Home Sweepers play home game

Developing women's football

Home Sweepers played their third game of the season in their home ground, at the KwaThema Sports Complex on Saturday.

The women’s team currently sits at position nine on the Sasol league and they hosted the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) who are log leaders.

Coach Joseph Mkhonza said the Sasol league is where players get the opportunity to be selected for Banyana Banyana, “Nomathemba Ntsibande has already been selected for the national team,” he added.

The team lost 1-0 to TUT, after they scored a goal from a penalty, awarded during the first half when Lebohang Mangaung handled the ball inside the box.

The windy conditions made it difficult for players to control the ball, and Joseph said players should be trained more to play under unfavorable weather conditions.
