Local cricketer continues to dream

Local cricketer says cricket is his family's favorite sport

An up-and-coming KwaThema cricket player says his brother is the reason that he fell in love with cricket.

Thabiso Msibi (19) from KwaThema Extension Two is a Grade 11 learner at Tlakula High School.

He says he fell in love with cricket in 2005 as he used to watch his older brother playing it until he became a coach.

Thabiso is a fast bowler for the KwaThema Cricket Club.

Because of many ankle injuries that he has suffered, Thabiso says his future in cricket might not be bright, however, he says when growing up he always dreamt of playing for the Highveld Lions Cricket Team.

“No injury will block my way to the top, I might have to stop playing cricket but I will make my mark through training the young players,” says a determined Thabiso.

He says he gets inspiration from his family especially his older brother who is always there, coaching and assisting him towards achieving his goal.

He encouraged the youth to play sport to avoid their involvement in criminal activities.

To prove his love and dedication to playing cricket, Thabiso received the most promising bowler award in 2007, best bowler of the tournament in 2010, the most committed player of the year in 2012 and the 2013 best captain award.
